April 27th-May 1

6th Graders: This week we will be reading "Telling Time." We will also be focusing on present tense verbs and analyzing a personal narrative. We will be reading the article "Should Soda Have Warning Labels?" in the ACTION magazine.

7th Grade: We will be reading the challenge text "Sandwiches+Hero=Success." On Thursday and Friday the majority of the 7th graders will be on the OMSI trip.

8th Grade: This week you will be taking the Smarter Balance Test! Good Luck!!!

April 20-24

6th Grade: This week 6th graders are taking the Smarter Balanced Assessment. Good luck!

7th Grade: This week 7th graders will be taking the end of book b assessments.

8th Grade: This week you will be writing a business letter and taking a spelling assessment. We will also be reading "The Beast of Lochness"

April 6-10

6th Grade: Your personal narrative is due this week. We will be typing it on Monday. We will also be reading "Past Time" and "Witness to War."

7th Grade: Your personal narrative is due this week. Be sure to include a message of what you learned from your experience in your narrative. We will be typing the essays on Tuesday and Wednesday. We will be reading "Witness to War."

8th Grade: This next unit focuses on the word "athlete." We will be exploring this word this week. We will be reading "The Complete Athlete" and "Witness to War."

March 30-April 3

Welcome back from Spring Break. I hope enjoyed your time off.

6th: This week we will be focusing on planning our personal narrative and taking a spelling and grammar test. We will be also reading the article "Slave Warrior Hero."

7th: This week we will be able to write compound sentences and finishing up our personal narrative. We will also be reading the article "Slave Warrior Hero."

8th: This week we will be working with prefixes and taking a spelling test. We will also be typing our essay and reading the article "Slave Warrior Hero."

March 16-20

I hope everyone has an outstanding spring break.

6th: This week we will be focusing on word relationships and reading "New Old Insects" and "Spy on Cyber Bullies."

7th: This week we are focusing on creating compound sentences and reading "Eponymous Sandwiches" and "Spy on Cyber Bullies."

8th: This week we are focusing on vocabulary strategies and reading " These Shoes of Mine" and "Spy on Cyber Bullies."

Conferences February 26th & 27th

We will be having conferences this week. On February 26th they will be in the gym from 10:00-2:00 and 3:00-6:00. On February 27th they will be in the classrooms from 7:30-11:30 and 12:30-3:30. If you attend you will receive a free assignment pass.

February 16-20

6th: Students will be reviewing homophones and past tense verbs. They will also be reading "How Bugs Bug Us" and "The Hindenburg Disaster."

7th: Students will be taking a spelling pre-test and completing a multiple meaning map. they will be reading "What's For Lunch?" and "The Hindenburg Disaster."

8th: Students will be using a structure to define words and learn the meanings of idioms. They will also be reading "Legendary Superheroes" and "The Hindenburg Disaster."

Winter Showcase

On February 12, 2015 from 5:30-7:00 we will be having our winter showcase. You will be able to take your parents around to each classroom. The book fair will be going on and there will be prizes.  Have a great time.

February 2-6

6th: We will be focusing on the story "The Power of Song" this week. We will expand our vocabulary, answer comprehension questions and engage in critical thinking discussions.

January 26-30: 2nd Semester

6th Grade: Students will be taking a grammar test and type their whale essay on the computers. It is due Friday. We will also be reading "History of Toilet Paper" out of the ACTION magazine.

7th Grade: Students will be taking a grammar assessment on verbs. They will be typing their compare and contrast essays on hurricanes and tornadoes. It is due Friday. We will also be reading "History of Toilet Paper" out of the ACTION magazine.

8th Grade: Students will be taking a grammar test on parts of speech. They will be typing their argumentative essay on art. It is due Friday. We will also be reading "History of Toilet Paper" our of the ACTION magazine.

January 19-23

Martin Luther King Day on Monday, January 16th

6th Grade: This week you will be finishing writing your body and concluding paragraphs to your essay. We will also have a spelling test and be reading "Pandora's Box" out of the ACTION magazine. 

7th Grade: This week we will learn how to write an introduction paragraph to a compare paragraph. We will have a spelling test and be reading "Pandora's Box" out of the ACTION magazine. 

8th Grade: This week we will continue work with prefixes, and write the body paragraphs to our essays. We will have a spelling test and be reading "Pandora's Box" out of the ACTION magazine.

January 12-16

6th Grade: This week we will be taking a word relationship assessment. We will also be reading "Woody's Song" and creating popplets on the iPads using the vocabulary words from the story. We will also read "Growing Hope" out of the ACTION Magazine.

7th Grade: This week we will be taking a vocabulary quiz. We will be reading "A Kite's Tale" and creating popplets on the iPads using the vocabulary words from the story. We will also read "Growing Hope" out of the ACTION Magazine.
