Conferences February 26th & 27th

We will be having conferences this week. On February 26th they will be in the gym from 10:00-2:00 and 3:00-6:00. On February 27th they will be in the classrooms from 7:30-11:30 and 12:30-3:30. If you attend you will receive a free assignment pass.

February 16-20

6th: Students will be reviewing homophones and past tense verbs. They will also be reading "How Bugs Bug Us" and "The Hindenburg Disaster."

7th: Students will be taking a spelling pre-test and completing a multiple meaning map. they will be reading "What's For Lunch?" and "The Hindenburg Disaster."

8th: Students will be using a structure to define words and learn the meanings of idioms. They will also be reading "Legendary Superheroes" and "The Hindenburg Disaster."

Winter Showcase

On February 12, 2015 from 5:30-7:00 we will be having our winter showcase. You will be able to take your parents around to each classroom. The book fair will be going on and there will be prizes.  Have a great time.

February 2-6

6th: We will be focusing on the story "The Power of Song" this week. We will expand our vocabulary, answer comprehension questions and engage in critical thinking discussions.

7th: We will be focusing on the story "The Dust Bowl" this week. We will expand our vocabulary, answer comprehension questions and engage in critical thinking discussions.

8th: We will be focusing on the story "Art in Space" this week. We will expand our vocabulary, answer comprehension questions and engage in critical thinking discussions.

January 26-30: 2nd Semester

Start the 2nd Semester off right!

6th Grade: Students will be taking a grammar test and type their whale essay on the computers. It is due Friday. We will also be reading "History of Toilet Paper" out of the ACTION magazine.

7th Grade: Students will be taking a grammar assessment on verbs. They will be typing their compare and contrast essays on hurricanes and tornadoes. It is due Friday. We will also be reading "History of Toilet Paper" out of the ACTION magazine.

8th Grade: Students will be taking a grammar test on parts of speech. They will be typing their argumentative essay on art. It is due Friday. We will also be reading "History of Toilet Paper" our of the ACTION magazine.

January 19-23

Martin Luther King Day on Monday, January 16th

6th Grade: This week you will be finishing writing your body and concluding paragraphs to your essay. We will also have a spelling test and be reading "Pandora's Box" out of the ACTION magazine. 

7th Grade: This week we will learn how to write an introduction paragraph to a compare paragraph. We will have a spelling test and be reading "Pandora's Box" out of the ACTION magazine. 

8th Grade: This week we will continue work with prefixes, and write the body paragraphs to our essays. We will have a spelling test and be reading "Pandora's Box" out of the ACTION magazine.

January 12-16

6th Grade: This week we will be taking a word relationship assessment. We will also be reading "Woody's Song" and creating popplets on the iPads using the vocabulary words from the story. We will also read "Growing Hope" out of the ACTION Magazine.

7th Grade: This week we will be taking a vocabulary quiz. We will be reading "A Kite's Tale" and creating popplets on the iPads using the vocabulary words from the story. We will also read "Growing Hope" out of the ACTION Magazine. 

8th Grade: This week we will be taking a vocabulary quiz. We will be reading "Becoming an Artist" and creating popplets on the iPads using the vocabulary words from teh story. We will also read "Growing Hope" out of the ACTION Magazine.
